In creating the Chicago-based New Religious Movement database, we hope to contribute to creating a more inclusive environment in Chicago and spreading awareness of the various religious groups that call Chicago-land their home. People often prematurely judge new religious groups because of the preconceived notions made on the groups based upon generalizations. This can often be combated by learning about the group before drawing up any opinions on it, but this will also require an individual to want to learn. With that being said, it is our hope that we can promote inclusivity through learning about the religious groups, so that when listening to an individual who identifies with one of these groups, we can understand them without any preconceived notions.
